About this workbook

An EU customer has sent you a sustainability questionnaire, and you may not be a CSRD reporting company at all. This workbook explains why you received it, maps the common questions to the adopted Voluntary Standard, and helps you organise your evidence once so every future request is answered from the same place.

It is practical, not theoretical: a decoder for the requests, a five-step triage, a reusable Excel answer set with an automatic gap list, three reply templates, and a fully worked supplier example.

What's inside

  • Request decoder: which questions are on the Annex II list, for businesses with 10 or fewer or 11 to 1,000 employees
  • Five-step triage: purpose, timing, applicability, available data, response
  • Excel answer set: 59 reusable data lines, status tracking, automatic gap list and request log
  • Three reply templates: clarify the request, explain unavailable data, and a conditional decline template to use only after the legal basis is checked
  • Worked supplier example with calculations (fictional)
  • Evidence register linking to the primary EU sources

Who it's for

Quality managers, compliance officers, sustainability leads and exporters, especially in textiles, sporting goods and apparel supply chains.

What it is not

Not legal advice, not a certification, and not an emissions calculator or a full sustainability report.

FAQ

Do I need to be in CSRD scope?

No. It is built for suppliers who are not directly in scope but receive data requests from customers who are.

Does it tell me I can refuse a request?

It helps you check whether the value chain cap may apply, and gives a conditional template. It does not certify a right to refuse. That depends on the purpose, the reporting period, national implementation and your contracts.

Which rules does it follow?

The Voluntary Standard, published as Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/1560 on 21 September 2026 and in force from 24 September 2026. The cap applies to financial years beginning on or after 1 January 2027.

What do I need to open the files?

A PDF reader and Excel, or a compatible spreadsheet app.

Is this official guidance?

No. It is independent practitioner guidance, not issued or endorsed by EFRAG, the European Commission or any certifying body.
